    What happens if I receive a positive test result?

    What are PrEP and PEP?

    PrEP and PEP are medications used to help prevent HIV.

    PrEP (pre-exposure prophylaxis) is taken before potential exposure to help reduce the risk of acquiring HIV.

    PEP (post-exposure prophylaxis) is taken after a potential exposure and must be started as soon as possible. PEP is intended for emergency situations and is generally most effective when started within 72 hours of a potential exposure.
